About Me + The Blog

As an aspiring medical student, I found the best source of advice and help was reading other students experience of the medical school journey, so I decided to start up my own page for all your other peeps wanting to, or thinking about studying Medicine.

Little bit about me....I'm Hannah, I'm 21, from the UK, and I have am due to graduate from Loughborough University with a BSc(Hons) Human Biology in a month. Sadly, I didn't get into medical school this year as my GAMSAT score was 1 point below the cut off mark for this year (frustrating I know). Instead I have been firmly accepted to study for a masters! - MMed Sci Assisted Reproductive Technology at Nottingham University. Basically its training to be an Embryologist. So I still get to work in a science field as well as helping people! Helping people to hopefully have children as well! So it's going to be an exciting next few years!

For my med school application I went for for Nottingham,Warwick, Kings, St Georges and Swansea. After I didn't get in I applied for Nottingham and Kent for a masters course in Embryology. I'm still here to answer all your questions and worries about medical school! I've got some thinking to do if I want to re-apply for next year!
Muchos science love

    1. Hellooo! Im back in business again! Basically if you want to apply for graduate entry medicine the whole application is now done through UCAS. So you will need to make an account with them, complete all the questions, add your qualifications, upload a personal statement and add your choices. UCAS make it super easy to apply for courses and take you through it! What exam you sit depends on what uni you apply for. When you are looking on uni websites about their course, check what entry exam you need to sit. One you have submitted your applications on UCAS, it is then up to you to get it sorted to sit the exam. It is either UKCAT or GAMSAT, BMAT, depending on the uni! Hope that helps! xxx

    1. OH gosh, GCSE was a long time ago(8 years!), I got 13 A*-B grades, so all of them were between those two grades, I did Extension Science. And for A Levels I got AAAB!

  6. hi there
i'm thinking about applying next year after i graduate! can you take a year out after graduation or does it have to be done straight away?
also my gcses are A*-B but i only have three A-levels AAB.
i'm on track for a 2.1 in my second year of uni, hoping for a 1st overall but i haven't been too motivated until recently when i've been toying with the idea of GEM!
do i stand a chance? i would love to do it but i'm afraid i won't even be considered as i feel like my grades are pretty average xxxx
